Smart Cities and Manufacturing Lab (SCiM Lab)
The Smart Cities and Manufacturing Lab at TCC-CIMET is a cutting-edge initiative built on the principles of Collaborate, Connect, and Co-Create. The lab serves as a multidisciplinary hub that integrates innovation, technology, and hands-on experimentation to support programs such as FADE (Frugal Academic Digital Entrepreneurship), CreCab (Creative Capacity Building), STEAM Clubs, FabLab, and DTU Sky Lab.
Designed to foster collaboration between students, researchers, innovators, and industry partners, the lab provides a platform for design thinking, prototyping, and rapid innovation. By connecting diverse stakeholders and knowledge systems, it enables co-creation of solutions that address urban challenges, advanced manufacturing needs, and sustainable development goals.
The lab focuses on smart city solutions, digital manufacturing, and technology-driven entrepreneurship, offering access to advanced fabrication tools, digital simulation software, and experimental workspaces. Participants engage in hands-on projects that bridge academic research with practical applications, from urban planning and sustainable infrastructure to digital product development and community-driven innovation.
By serving as a central hub for TCC-CIMET’s innovation programs, the Smart Cities and Manufacturing Lab strengthens interdisciplinary learning, promotes knowledge transfer, and cultivates the next generation of innovators who can drive Africa’s digital and industrial transformation.
