TCC-CIMET Prepares for RENABUMA Project: Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Housing

GhIE and CSS, KNUST Visit: Key Highlights

During the collaborative meeting, the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, Ing. Ludwig Hesse, emphasized the transformative potential of the RENABUMA initiative. He noted that Ghana’s urbanization presents a unique opportunity to adopt building solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and cost-effective.

“The project intends to use materials that are common to us, which are also natural, combined with technology to make them modern. When these are combined, there is value for us. We are fortunate to be moving into urbanization. Others are ahead of us, but if we can take advantage of these opportunities, we can reduce costs, improve resilience and sustainability, and lower our carbon footprints,” he said.

His remarks reinforced the shared national goal of integrating local materials with modern digital construction technologies to create housing systems that are resilient and future-ready.

About the RENABUMA Workshop

Scheduled for 1st to 23rd September, the RENABUMA Workshop will serve as a hands-on, collaborative platform where academia, industry leaders, researchers, and community stakeholders work together to co-create innovative building solutions. By intentionally progressing from concept to prototype and then to scalable models, the project ensures that groundbreaking ideas are translated into real, durable, and sustainable housing options.
