TCC-CIMET Management Welcomes Team Ghana Following Their Success at the Digital Action Challenge in Copenhagen, Denmark

The management of the TCC–International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) has congratulated and warmly welcomed Team Ghana following their outstanding performance at the recently concluded Digital Action Challenge in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Team Ghana, led by Prof. Alexander Boakye Marful, Director of Business Development and Sustainability at TCC-CIMET, together with Dr. Oliver Kornyo, Fellow at TCC-CIMET, secured four major awards at the international summit.

The four awards include:

  • Acceleration Award for the “Transforming Citizen Engagement in Ghana through Large Language Models” project.
  • Acceleration Award for their platform designed to enhance financial transparency in public works in Bogotá.
  • Impact Award in the Young Entrepreneurs category for their Maternal Health Monitoring and Advisory System project.
  • Young Entrepreneurs Track Award for their project “Revolutionizing Food Delivery with Smart Drones – Fast, Reliable, and Sustainable.”

These recognitions highlight the team’s innovative approaches across diverse sectors, from civic engagement and public financial management to maternal health and smart logistics.

In a conversation with the award winners, Prof. Francis Davis congratulated the team and their leaders on their efforts, assuring them that the Centre would provide the necessary support to upscale and commercialize their findings.

“We are immensely proud of you for bringing this honor and recognition to the Centre and to KNUST. Your achievement at the Digital Action Challenge reflects the innovation, dedication, and hard work that define our institution. But this milestone is only the beginning. As a Centre, we are committed to supporting you to further develop, upscale, and commercialize your findings.

“We will provide the resources and technical guidance needed to transform these impressive innovations into impactful, market-ready solutions; this is central to our mandate. Once again, we are very proud of you. On behalf of the TCC-CIMET board we will book an appointment to see the Vice Chancellor and inform her of the good news. Congratulations.,” he said.

The award presentation took place during the 12th Management Meeting of TCC-CIMET.

Prof. Alexander Boakye Marful, Director for Business Development and Sustainability, explained that the young innovators would be added to the Centre’s incubator program to further nurture their ideas, strengthen their technical capacity, and guide them toward developing commercially viable solutions.

“We are thrilled to welcome these young innovators into our business incubator program, where we will provide them with the resources, mentorship, and technical support they need to fully commercialize their findings. This initial group will serve as our first cohort of incubatees, and we are actively processing applications to bring more talented innovators into the program. At TCC-CIMET, our goal is to turn great ideas into impactful solutions that can benefit society and drive technological advancement,” he said.
