Prof. Alexander Boakye Marful Appointed Director of Business Development and Sustainability at TCC-CIMET
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has appointed Professor Alexander Boakye Marful as the Director of Business Development and Sustainability at the Technology Consultancy Centre–Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET).
Prof. Marful will spearhead strategic initiatives that promote innovation, institutional partnerships, and sustainability within the Centre.
His role will involve developing and implementing business growth strategies aligned with TCC-CIMET’s long-term vision, coordinating efforts to secure funding for research and innovation projects, and advancing incubation and accelerator programmes to nurture start-ups and spin-offs from the Centre’s research.
In addition, he will be responsible for strengthening collaboration with government, industry, development agencies, and international organizations to enhance TCC-CIMET’s profile as a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence.
About Prof. Alexander Boakye Marful
Prof. Alexander Boakye Marful is an accomplished architect, academic, and sustainable development planner with extensive experience in resilience-oriented urban design and innovation-led community development. He currently serves as Project Lead and Concept Initiator for the Ghana Smart Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Cities Programme, implemented across ten cities.
He also leads the TRANS-SAHARA Project on novel WEFE Nexus-based approaches to agroforestry management in the Greater North African Region (2024–2027).
Beyond KNUST, Prof. Marful is an active member of the Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA), where he serves on the Professional Practice Examination Committee and as a Council Member. He is also GIA’s representative on the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA) Board of Ghana.
Within academia, Prof. Marful has served as Chair of Panels for Accreditation of Architectural Programmes under the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and as Undergraduate Coordinator at KNUST’s Department of Architecture.
His teaching and research interests span energy-efficient community planning, eco-mobility, smart neighbourhood design, digital fabrication for green communities, and frugal innovation for developing countries.
Prof. Marful’s new role is pivotal to the University’s broader agenda of linking academic excellence with sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship. Through his leadership, TCC-CIMET aims to strengthen its impact as a driver of industrial innovation, sustainable manufacturing, and technology transfer across Ghana and the sub-region.
