A Historic Milestone at KNUST – 1985 Ghana Industrial Technology Fair
In 1985, the Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC-KNUST) proudly won First Prize at the Ghana Industrial Technology Fair, a national recognition of the Centre’s pioneering work in technology transfer, local industry support, and innovation.
To celebrate this achievement, an exhibition was mounted at the Great Hall foyer of KNUST, attracting academic and institutional leaders.
In these rare archival photos, the then Director of TCC, Sir. J.W. Powell, is seen engaging with the late former Vice-Chancellor Prof. F.O. Kwami and the former Registrar/Public Relations Officer Mr. Agbo Mensah, as they toured the exhibition that highlighted impactful projects like the then Suame ITTU Foundry and other community-based technological interventions.
This moment stands as a testament to TCC-KNUST’s leadership in engineering solutions tailored for Ghana’s development. The legacy of those who championed this vision continues to shape innovation at KNUST and beyond.
May Prof. F.O. Kwami’s memory live on through the milestones he helped shape.
